SHERER's OF OLD

WELL THEY ARE NOT ALL OLD
AT LEAST NOT THE ONES WHO ENLIGHTENED
THE SHERERs WHO HAVE THIS WEBSITE

Once upon a time.... there were four Sherer brothers. I do not know the entire history. None of the Sherer kids who show up on this website ever met any of those boys. Three of them lived in Sartell and worked as loggers in the mid ninteen hundreds. These men were known to Ronald Sherer, son of James T., one of those brothers. One day James D. Sherer, Ronald's brother, was contacted by a Joan Sherer Baines from Sacramento, California, with questions about geneology. She knew of the fourth brother, Marshall.

And so a dialogue began. Joan's father, Harold Sherer, is pictured below with his sisters, Lulu and Effie, in 1915.

Another coincidence occurred in the summer of 2005. Joan Baines called Nancy Sherer, one of these Sherer kids, and wondered exactly where she lived in Bellingham. The reason she was curious was that she and her husband were driving to Bellingham to visit old school friends and would like to drop by to meet her. Lo and behold, Nancy lived about 4 houses down the same street as the Baines friends. And so we were gifted with additional photos.

Marshall and Winnifred are the parents of Harold and Effie. Isn't this a wonderful picture? Neither Marshall nor Harold are alive today (2005) but Effie celebrated her 90th birthday a year ago and is still living in Wisconsin.

We have yet to list Joan's siblings and their offspring - maybe that will come soon.

I just want all you Sherer's living in Minnesota, South Dakota, Texas and anywhere else to know that you have cousins in the wonderful west. Let's keep in touch.

Naomi Hodak Sherer, a non-sherer blood, who hooked up with the right guy and got some great kids. .
